Iran's contemporary history has seen a turbulent relationship with the United States. A relationship that was strategic until the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1357. But with the occurrence of the revolution and the critical nature of this relationship, Iran and America have experienced a conflictual relationship for more than four decades. Although there have been opportunities to resolve the conflict between the two countries during this period, all initiatives to resolve the conflict have failed and we are witnessing the continuation of critical relations between the two countries. Therefore, the current research, using the descriptive-analytical research method, using Zartman's "conflict maturity" theory, seeks to answer the question, what are the reasons for the deepening and continuation of the crisis in Iran-US relations? According to William Zartman's conflict maturity theory, the continuation of the crisis in the relations between the countries has been caused by several causes, including the images of the elites, incentives and ideology, to answer the above question, the following hypothesis is evaluated:At some points during the crisis relations between the two countries, despite the availability of fields such as elites and incentives for the non-continuation of the crisis, which form two sides of Zartman's theory for the non-continuation of the crisis, the existence of the third side of this theory, i.e. parallel discourse and the existence of two ruling ideologies on the two countries, has played the biggest role in the continuation of the crisis relations between the two countries, therefore, the non-continuation of the crisis depends on the change of the discourse governing the politics of the two countries.
